a brief summary of my opinion on korra’s finale

i was sure LoK would not live up to ATLA, basically because it was a 12 episode miniseries compared to 60 episodes through three seasons, but it’d be nice anyways.

i enjoyed the series overall but there were two main things that brought it down and, in my opinion, blew its potential:

-horrible pacing
-ship fanservice

and it’s correlated.
all the makorra subplot felt forced and all the characters suffered from it. mako looked like the biggest douché ever, korra lost all her wits when it came to it, and other characters (like bolin) were downplayed in favor of their ~~true love~~. bolin became just a joke character, and i think it’s horrible they portrayed as acceptable the way asami was treated.
i wouldn’t have mind a romantic subplot because korra is a teen blahblahblah but not if it means less actual plot.

congratulations, makorrans, you probably got what zutara didn’t give you. most likely you are the only ones who enjoyed the finale.

the finale episodes were horribly paced — the PLOT TWEEST came literally out of nowhere. had it been a red herring (like it seemed in the first place) would have been nice, but just throwing this out suddenly was off-putting.

don’t get me started on the deus ex. it was a touching moment, yes, but it made everything they did before pointless. what was the point of korra’s struggle if it just required aang’s ghost to give her bending back and cure all the benders? it was retarded, they solved a huge key point in less than three minutes.

i don’t know, at this point, i’d only give season 2 a chance if it’s about the adventures of tenzin, lin, iroh ii, asami and bumi. bolin can tag along too but only if he finally becomes something more than ‘bolin makes me lol’.
and please, NO SHIPPING DRAMA.
